Today was the longest, busiest, and best day I’ve had in awhile. I finally understand what I’m going to be doing this summer! I truly am the middleman that brings together design, pr, and buying. I absolutely cannot wait…I’m going to be working with all of the upcoming product! Which, unfortunately, means that there isn’t much I can share here. I wouldn’t want to spoil the surprise!
I really feel like this is going to turn out to be an amazing opportunity for me. Already, everyone I’ve met has been so helpful and willing to answer any silly intern question I may have. The best part is that I’m not just getting coffee or filing papers; I’m going to be working on real projects that will actually have an impact on future sales in the store.
Whereas today was mostly learning policies and names (it’s the first day of school all over again!), I jump in head first tomorrow-it’s a day full of meetings, touch bases, and finalizations!
Information Overload
Philadelphia: Day 1
We got off to a bit of a rocky start. The guys who lived in the house before us didn’t quite understand the concept of moving out when your lease ends, so we walked into a disaster zone. One that included a hamster in the kitchen. Luckily, the girl we’re subletting from was amazing and put us up in a hotel while everything was being figured out.
Today was a mix of cleaning, moving and Target trips, but I’m finally starting to feel settled. My roommates Emily and Austin (the other girls move in later in the summer) are pretty wonderful. This situation could have felt a whole lot more overwhelming without them!
The neighborhood is adorable…coffee shops, bookstores, and Chinese food within walking distance-what more could you ask for?!
One more day of figuring out the city and subway, and then it’s off to home office! I still have absolutely no idea what to expect…the first day could be pretty interesting!
Window display for Julie Harris Photography in Denver, CO.
I was challenged to create a display that wasn’t too overwhelming or blocked out too much of the space since her business is based on her photographic displays. We decided on a mixed material curtain to brighten up and emphasize the height of her beautiful vintage windows.
